[&&] -- WELCOME, STRANGER. « Thread Started on Apr 2, 2008, 8:43pm »
His hair was gelled and combed through, a Merrit && Blue baseball cap thrown onto it. His shirt was a blue tee, exclaiming "MERRiT" down the side of it in large, white letters. He had carpenter shorts on it with the Blue Dragon that was the componies copyright. In all, Merrit && Blue was all Will wore today. Which was strange. Usually he mixed it up. His mother had told him to go visit the guy who was now living with them for the moment, renting their beach house. Now, you see, Will wasn't too keen on the idea, but seeing as how he was already on a bad role with his parents and was slightly scared of his mother at the moment, he'd decided to just go with it. Couldn't be that bad, right?
Will was, after all, one of the most popular kids in school. Jocks, Cheerleaders, and Loners alike all wanted to be seen with him, laughing and talking and just having a good time in general. He still had a bit of social anxiety, though he never let it show. Will certainly didn't want to be sent back to that psychiatrist his parents forced him into seeing for more than just his Drug and Alchohal problems. Oh, and there was that little thing about him feeling betrayed by his family, or something along those lines. Honestly, Will never paid much attention to the crazy old fool. He could outsmart the man without even trying, and sometimes he wondered if the consouler had lost it already. It'd be too bad, if he had, he wasn't that bad of a man. The only porblem was that he was a psychiatrist. And that was unforgivable.
Will swung back his leg and let it swing outwards, sending a large white rock flying. It'd been the same color as his tennis shoes. He gave a small frown, shoving his hands in his pockets. The ocean was peaceful this time of day, and his parents owned a large stretch. He could just walk up and down the beach and be gone for an hour or two. Nobody would miss him, and he could postpone the little meeting for another day, perhaps. Then he thought about his mother again and grimiced. No, today was the day. Gathering his courage, Will changed direction and stride, trotting up the the genoursly sized house on the water and walked up the front steps, knocking on the door loud enough for the man to hear him. Ugh, what was his name again? Will pondered, Ah! Yes, now I remember. Amaranth.
So here he was. At a gigantic house right on the ocean instead of at the dorms. He haden't asked to be boarded out in some familys home but it happened anyway. He pulled off the road and onto the driveway. He was supposed to have been there twenty minuites ago and he was sure that the family he was going to be staying with would be mad. Or they would never notice. one of the two. He pulled to a stop and lifted the visor of his helmet. He must have gotten the wrong address. He was sure of it. But he checked it again and this seemed to be right. He rode the motorcycle up the long driveway untill he saw another car. He stopped his bike beside the Scion and turned off the motor. He turned his iPod touch off and pulled his helmet off. He was told he would be staying in a beach house and he saw the road going to it. He put the helmet back on and started the machine once more. He rode down the road to the small covered carport beside the beach house and repeted the prosess again. He saw a person standing at the door and as he got off the bike and put the kickstand down he began to walk towards the young man who appeared to be about his age.He was wearing a Killswitch Engage hoodie and a Dragon t-shirt under that, He wore green, brown, black and beige camo pants. He removed his helmet and brushed his hair out of his face with his hand. "Hello?" He called to the boy. Isis had yet to show up be he knew that she had beaten him here. "Sorry I'm late." He said as he approached the boy. "I'm Amaranth."

Will turned when he heard the motorcycle, eyes squinting to see the far out distance. He lifted a hand in greeting when the Motorcycle was close enough, turning and watching the boy turn it off and dismount. Will's eyes flitted up and down the boy's body, taking in what he was wearing and what, in general, he looked like. Sizing him up, you could say. Another Dragon Rider was all Will needed, but he supposed it wouldn't be all that bad. He was friends with a ton of them, and those were his age weren't all that bad...unless they got along with Selena. Then it turned to a problem. His sister told them all the dirt on him, made him look horrible, and in turn they tried to pity him and treat him like dirt. Yeah. Good luck with that one. Will was not one to accept pity in any shape or form, his mother claiming that was the Murtagh in him. Murtagh was his father, or at least that is what they said. He never seemed to pay attention to or spend anytime with Will anymore, or have the slightest bit of interest. At times the boy thought that they must have been mistaken, that he was really just adopted and he hadn't exited out of his mother's womb. Will allowed a sigh to exit his body at such depressing thoughts. It was all that was left in him anymore, though. Well, that and his constant desire to part until he dropped. A smirk slithered across his lips at that thought.
His head c.ocked to the head slightly at the words spoken by the boy. Late? Will hadn't even noticed. All he knew was that some dude named Amaranth was supposed to show up today and Will was supposed to get him settled in and welcome him to the neighborhood. The boy really didn't understand why he was here. Classes didn't start for another couple of weeks, and even when the did, the family would most likely move to the Vrailing Circle manor. Will then remembered that Amaranth was a late bloomer and had only recently hatched an egg. Amaranth was most likely going to catch up on training with Elin, so that he wouldn't have to be held back too much and could join his own grade the next year. "Hey. 'Sup?" Simple words spoken as if the boy before him were an old friend, a smile plastered on his lips, playful yet cautious. Will wasn't sure if the boy would take to his outgoing nature, and so wasn't going to do anything to endager the "Friendship" between them. His mother had warned him that this was part of his punishment, and that if he didn't make Amaranth feel welcomed, he might as well just stay in his room for the next week until it was time to go back to school. This was the first time he'd been outside in about three weeks, excluding the balconies and the porchs on the house. But going out on those just weren't the same. They didn't hold the same properties as the real outdoors did. He also wasn't allowed in any other building on the property that made up Shoreside Manor.
Will missed the stables, neighing horses and the smell of leather and alfalfa and horsesweat. He loved to ride and did so in compititions. He jumped at five and a half feet now, though he was sure because of the time he'd spent out of the saddle that he'd be rusty come show season. He also missed the beach, being able to take King out for a stroll or just sitting out on the rocky alcoves that lined the bit of beach about a quarter mile away from the actual house. Mostly, he missed being able to just runaway from it all and not have to go back until dinner time, or even just before his curfew. Sometimes he came back a couple of hours past curfew, or snuck out after. Either way, Will had always been allowed out of the house. Up until now. And this was his one chance to break free of the perdicament. "I'm Will. Murtagh and Elin's son. They wanted me to come down and show you around, whatever. You're not late, in fact if you are then I am too. Just got here myself, bit of a walk from my wing of the manor to here, y'know?" He chuckled, leaning against the wood railing of the porch, hands shoved in his pockets.
Amaranth smiled at Will as he walked up to him. "Nice to meet you." He said politely as he unzipped his hoodie to help himself cool off after the long ride to this house. "Um you didn't happen to see a really dark crimson dragon around here did you?" He asked rather embarresdly. "I lost sight of her a while back and I have no idea where she went. I'm getting kinda worried." Amaranth removed his backpack uncovering his bow and quiver on his back and put his iPod back into his bag. He looked around the place and smiled."This place is huge! It must be awsome living here."
"Back in Carvahall there were no houses even close to this big." He was amazed that someone could live in these places. And that someone had been kind enough to allow him to live in their home. even if it was only for a little while. "So you an only child?" He knew it might have sounded a little rude but it was a perfectly good question. Right? He had been asked it many times before and he didn't mind it at all.
xx; Will shrugged and looked out towards the water, squiting lightly as the rays of sunlight glared off of rolling, white-tipped waves. "Naw, sorry dude. Can't say I have. Only one, but that Dragon most definetly was not yours because she belongs to one of my friends, David. He smiled as the man commented on how big his house was. Yes, most were in awe of where Will lived, though the boy didn't exactly see why. Perhaps it was because he was used to living in the lap of luxery, born with a silver sthingy placed delicaitly in his mouth, or that he didn't care about a person's financial situation: a house was somewhere to go at night to him and sleep; Will was out most of the time, anyway, so he never really took notice of the monstrosity that was Shoreside Manor.
xx; He let his hands slide out of his pockets, back of his forearms resting slightly behind him on the wooden railing around the porch. He yawned, blinking furiously at the end as he tried to keep himself from feeling tired. It was a hard task, though, taking vast amounts of attentiveness and energy. Oh yes, Will thougt the faintest hints and traces of salt on the ocean breeze mixed in with other foreign scents that he knew so well was as inviting for a nap as a comfertable leather couch before a roaring fireplace in winter was. The thought made him tired. He had slept most of the time he was grounded, and that was the problem. The boy's body was growing used to so much sleep. He shifted slightly before looking at the boy and saying "So, do you need to unpack? Want me to show you around...or?" He smiled then before standing straight and asking "Hey, actually, I've got something better in mind. How 'bout we go out on the town? Give Ol' Grey a run for his money. The buzzard..." The last part was muttered, Will now addoring a smirk on his face.
xx; Grey Thompson was the Cheif in Tierm's Alagaesian Police Force headquarters. He was old, that was for sure, with a son that Will had come to hate. The boy was part of the reason Will was in so much trouble. He hadn't told Will he had pot on him, and they'd been drinking beer out in the park. The police had shown up, Tyler (Grey's kid), had decided to flee with Milo right beside him, and had left the bag of pot right in front of Will. Smart. Yeah...not really. Will had beat the s.hit out of both of them next time he had a chance. He was surprised when he heard his mother had stepped up to plate and defended him on every aspect, not giving him anymore of a punishment for his actions. Instead, she seemed impressed with him.
"Naw, I'm not an only child. There's this thing in the house...her name's Selena. I'm not entirely sure it she's human, but my parents claim she is, so I'll go with that. It's wise to stay away from her; she's a right bi.tch most of the time, and the other times...he.ll, what other times?" He scrunched up his nose in a look of disguist before smiling lightly at Amaranth.
Amaranth looked curiously at Will as he suggested diffrent things. The last thing he had said seemed to be a purely impulsive idea that had just seemed to enter his mind He was about to say yes to the idea when a familear voice entered his mind and growled mentaly at him. 'Don't even think about it. he only wants to get you in trouble Am(Isis's nickname for Amaranth)'He turned to see the dark red dragon walking towards him and she seemed rather preturbed by this boy Will. She glared straight at him.'Do not think that I do not see your intentions boy! If I ever catch you trying to get my rider into trouble again I will personally see to it that your life becomes more of a living hell then it already is!'She snapped at Will. Now she was really mad and Amaranth was afraid she was going to fry him. "How bout we just unpack first shall we?" He said. At the very moment he finished speaking a grey falcon flew down from the sky and alighted on his right shoulder while staring straight at Will."This is Bane,And you've already met Isis." He said hoping that Will woulden't run away.
xx; Will laughed. Yes, the boy laughed in the Dragon's face. Now, most wouldn't even consider mocking a Dragon out of pure fear for one's life, but Will was the type of person who didn't care. Either that or he just had three other Dragons who he knew, even begrudgingly, would come to his aid, and many others that were only a phone call away. He looked completely relaxed in the face of the Dragon's rage, a slight smirk playing across his otherwise amused features. Sure, one might call Will a smart-a.ss or a lunatic. But that's how he lived, right on the edge. He didn't want to live forever, after all.
xx; The boy stood straighter and snorted at the Dragon's perception of him. "Dragon, you really need to get a few thigns straight around here. One, threaten me and nothing will be easy for you when my Mother's Dragon, Pantherus, hears of it. She's about four times bigger than you at the moment, and doesn't take kindly to any disruptions of the peace. Do you honestly think I'd try to get Amaranth in trouble when I'm already in so much s.hit with my parents? No, and I wouldn't anyway. He's cool, in my books, and hasn't done anything to make me think otherwise." He then turned and adressed Amaranth. "Jesus, with a Dragon like that you don't go out to often, do ya? Rather protective, 'eh?" His face was both puzzled and amused. He hadn't been threatened by a Dragon in a long time.
Stretching upwards Will walked towards to door and said the simple word "Unlock" in the ancient language. The door clicked and swung open, Will walking inside. It started out with a large wood-floored room. To your immediate front was a large arch-type doorway leading to carpeting, fine furniture, and a large balcony with curtains on the glass doors for privacy if needed. The balcony, when you went out onto it, led down to the beach on a marble staircase Elin had built in remembrance of her old home back in the midevil times. Back in the where Will was standing, you could look to your right and see a door that lead to a bathroom, and was opened just enough to see what it contained. A toilet, sink and mirror. A small set of stairs led up stairs to your left, where the four bedrooms where and the master suite, along with it's master bathroom.
Elin had removed her's and Murtagh's things from the bedroom in order to make room for Amaranth. He'd be invited to take the suite, or whatever other room he chose. Will blinked and turned back to Amaranth.
Amaranth was suprised at how Will reacted to Isis anger, which made him wonder about Wills mental state. Either he was just stupid or he truely didn't care.Amaranth laughed at his comment about her but he stopped when Isis glared at him."You should see how she fusses every time I get on my motorcycle." Isis still had her lip raised and a low growl could still be heard coming out of her throat."I still do not trust him Am. I want you to be careful around him."Amaranth smiled a little at her words and then he followed Will inside of the house. He almost bit his tounge when he got inside. "holy shi.t! This place is fuc.king huge man!"He said before dropping his backpack beside the door and looking at Will again. "This is a joke right? This is where your parents are letting me stay?"He said still looking around in awe.
Isis poked her head through the large front door and snorted irratably. She brought her head back out of the door and walked around to the glass door leading down to the steps to the beach. She peered in through the glass at Amaranth who was still in awe of this gigantic house. He was dead sure that this was a joke. He looked aw Will again. "So this is a joke right?"

xx; Will lifted a hand and covered his mouth as he yawned again. Of course the boy was slightly apprehensize to be taunting a Dragon, who wouldn't be? The difference was, William Lee Murtaghson wasn't just another person. He could back everything he said up, and would if neccesairy. The boy, who wasn't really a boy at all but nor was he yet a man, would simply have his mother help him if the need ever arose. She was over protective, and at times he cursed it, but when danger loomed just overhead, and burdens were heavy, he thanked the gods he had been blessed with such a women as his mother.
xx; Amaranth seemed more than surprised at his accomodations. Will gave a small smile when he asked if it was a joke and shrugged. "If it is, I havn't been let in on it." He walked forward, taking a left in the livingroom and entering a kitchen filled with ample foods to get Amaranth through staying there, all having spells on them to prevent any of it going bad or rotting. Will opened the fridge and grabbed a strawberry soda; his payment for walking all the way over and meeting the boy, who was turning out not to be that bad at all. Will might even like him. Might.
xx; He opened the soda and drank a sip one eye squinted closed and the other almost there. "Care for-" Will then smiled and laughed, remembering that they really were Amaranth's, and said "Really, I should be asking if you mind if I take one." He leaned against the counter, still sipping the cold beveredge. Ah yes, Strawberry Soda. Life couldn't get any better. Or sweeter.
Amaranth removed his hoodie and in doing so uncovered his bow and the two 9mm Glock handguns still safetied and locked in their holsters behind his back. He pulled off his bow and hung it on a hook on the wall. He picked up his large duffel bag that he had grabbed from Isis's saddle and brought inside. He put it down beside the counter and pulled a small black metal case out of it and put it on the counter. He unlocked the small metal box and opened it."So what do you do for fun?"Amaranth asked while taking the two guns out of their holsters on his back and removing the magazines from them and placing them beside the many others in the box. All had 10 9mm cartridges in them and after that was done he set one of the guns down on the counter while inspecting the other before locking the slide in place and placing a small plastic plug in the barrel and putting it back in the case and picking up to other gun. He checked it and after staring down the barrel for a few moments he pulled a brush out of the case and began to clean the guns barrel and other parts of it."You ever shot a gun before?"An odd question maybe but a valid one none the less. Amaranth walked to the fridge and looked inside. He saw nothing of interest to him at the moment so he went to his backpack and pulled a can of Monster energy drink out, opened it and took a sip before placing it on the counter and picking one of the handguns up and inspecting it again before he went back to cleaning it.
